This song came from a discussion about our town, Musselburgh, being known as " the Honest Town."The ballad describes a fugitive, a gun battle, and a love affair. 

We go at it at a blistering pace, so it's up-tempo, and loud with a cracking snare drum and some excellent guitar work.

Guitar, Bass and Drums. This is a pretty basic band set up but Colin has nailed it with the recording. Great guitar sound Ross and thumping drums Duncan. Bob came down for a visit and he wrote the chorus lyrics on the bus on the way down; "I wish you were here I wish you were gone". I sketched out the verse lyrics and did the chord structure like "Heatwave"  and it just seemed to work. Great fun to play and sing.

The Roy Orbison song In Dreams has always been one of my favourite songs. I tried to write a song like it and it turned out like this. Nothing like it and not nearly as good.

In this song, we think we have all excelled. The lyrics paint a beautiful picture of a passionate and dangerous love affair in Barcelona (all matadors and tango dancers). Underpinned by a beautiful melody with Spanish guitars, castanets and the pièce de résistance, Caitlin's perfect voice.

The song originated from a romantic encounter in Barcelona. The idea was to write about both the desire and the danger. From the blood red of the lips to the red cape of the bullfighting toreador and matador. break in the song reflects on the beauty and sense of loss.

Musically, we wanted to create a basic live acoustic sound using acoustic drums, upright bass, and Spanish nylon-strung guitars with castanets and shakers. While the time signature is 4/4, my drummer informs me that rhythm is not a tango, but a Bossa nova. The band performed the song live in the studio, overdubbing the vocals and guitar later.
